How Different Industries Use Stainless Steel
The use of stainless steel has become highly coveted among a variety of industries, as it has been found to be a reliable and versatile material that can be used in various manufacturing processes to improve the quality of products we use every day. Allow us to explain how different industries use stainless steel and why it simply can’t be beaten.
Food Processing
In food processing, sanitation and sterilization are a necessity and are things that stainless steel can provide in ways no other metal can. Sanitary stainless steel is unique in that it is highly resistant to corrosion, and dirt, debris, and other contaminants are unable to build up on it, as the surface of sanitary stainless steel lacks pores for such contaminants to burrow into and get stuck. This makes stainless steel appliances easy to clean and enables them to avoid issues like rust that could ruin the final product. Typically, stainless steel is used in food preparation surfaces, knives, and the manufacturing equipment itself.
Pharmaceuticals
The pharmaceutical industry makes use of stainless steel for many of the same reasons as the food processing industry. Components such as stainless-steel tubing and their accompanying stainless-steel tube fittings are ideal for transporting chemicals safely and simplifying maintenance by making them so easy to care for. As in food process, stainless steel is used in the pharmaceutical industry to prevent any sort of contaminants from getting into the final product and compromising medications.
Home Appliances
As we mentioned, stainless steel can be found in many of the appliances and products we use in our daily lives. This is because industries that manufacture home appliances value stainless steel for its durability and pleasing aesthetics. This popularity only continues to rise as stainless-steel appliances such as ovens and refrigerators rise in demand as a way to raise the value of homes.
Energy Production
When discussing how different industries use stainless steel, one should never overlook the important work of how stainless steel is used in energy production. Part of stainless steel’s valuable durability is its ability to withstand high stress and temperatures. This makes it ideal for cleaner energy production, as in wind towers, or more efficient power plants in the form of nuclear reactors. There is no better material for withstanding the harsh environments necessary for energy production.
